Forming: guide, breast and suction couch rolls

Positions
breast, drive, guide and suction couch rolls.
Arrangement
spherical rollers with locating/floating functions and adapter/withdrawal sleeves.
Conditions
fast, lightly loaded wet duty and misalignment; internal/external supports differ by roll.
Engineering focus
clearance, coatings, seals and mounting, ensuring the floating side accommodates required axial displacement.
Pressing: central, shoe and suction presses

Positions
central/press rolls, shoe presses and suction presses.
Conditions
wet, heavily loaded, deflecting rolls with lubrication/alignment effects at speed.
Arrangement
spherical rollers, plus deep-groove/plain shoe-press supports and specialised three-ring suction-press configurations.
Engineering focus
assess the actual load path and axial freedom; press positions cannot be reduced to one designation.
Drying: cylinders and axial thermal growth

Positions
dryer cylinders, vacuum drying and Yankee supports.
Arrangement
spherical-roller pairs or spherical/single-row self-aligning combinations.
Conditions
high temperature, thermal growth and fast/light duty, with different locating/floating requirements.
Engineering focus
thermal stability, material, operating clearance and lubrication, explicitly accounting for cylinder expansion and support displacement.
Calendering: heated and soft rolls

Positions
heated/soft calender-roll supports.
Conditions
heat, speed, variable loads and misalignment, with temperature changing operating clearance.
Arrangement
spherical-roller supports selected for the roll architecture.
Engineering focus
fits, lubrication and thermal deflection; distinguish roll-surface from bearing temperature.
Reeling: changing roll diameter and loads

Positions
reel-roll and shaft supports.
Conditions
diameter, speed and load vary through the cycle; steady operation differs from acceleration.
Arrangement
paired spherical rollers and relevant shaft configurations.
Engineering focus
provide full-cycle load/speed records with lubrication, assembly and maintenance intervals.
Design improvements and paper-machine examples
CC spherical-roller designs in the deck use separate cages and floating guide rings to address load sharing and contact stress.
Group examples (2025)
paper-machine projects list different supports for guide/couch/press/dryer positions; one machine is not one bearing selection.
Provide
web width/speed, roll diameter, position and temperature. Convert web m/min to bearing rpm using roll diameter.
Parameter reference
designation dimensions/loads follow the general-catalogue policy; industry cases do not overwrite model data.
Information for an application enquiry
Equipment and position
machine model, mounting position and complete bearing designation with suffixes. For replacements, include the original arrangement and fit dimensions.
Operating records
bearing speed in rpm, radial and axial loads, shocks and starts/stops. Paper-web and rolling-line speeds are not bearing rotational speeds.
Lubrication and assembly
lubricant grade, oil supply or relubrication records, temperature, mounted clearance or preload, seals and contamination.
Problem and objective
temperature rise, noise, vibration or flaking, timing, photographs and maintenance records, plus the outage window or redesign objective.
