Lubrication and temperature

Read lubrication method, maintenance history, speed and temperature trends together to establish an investigation path.

Application scenarios include rising temperature after startup, changes after lubrication maintenance, operating fluctuations and leakage. Prepare the lubricant designation, filling and oil-change history, actual speed, measurement positions, ambient temperature and time records. This guide does not prescribe a universal operating temperature or lubrication interval.

Record when the temperature change occurs

State whether the problem appears during startup, steady operation, a load change or after maintenance. Temperature records should identify time, measurement position, instrument and operating conditions, with ambient temperature and nearby measurement points retained.

A single temperature value does not describe the full problem. Provide startup-to-steady-operation records and changes in speed, load and lubrication maintenance to connect observations with operating events.

Collect lubrication information

Identify grease or oil lubrication and provide the lubricant brand, complete product name and instructions. Organise initial filling, replenishment, oil changes and cleaning records, noting mixing, leakage or contamination.

For circulating oil, add system information and available flow, pressure and oil-temperature records. For grease lubrication, provide the filling method and recorded quantities. This guide does not specify a universal quantity or change interval independently of the bearing and equipment.

Keep grease and oil speed conditions separate

Product pages show grease-lubricated and oil-lubricated limiting speeds separately. Compare data under the same lubrication condition and for the complete designation; do not combine them into one limiting speed.

Keep catalogue speed data separate from measured operating speed. Catalogue values alone do not establish a continuous equipment operating limit. Do not infer missing values or substitute another brand or a similar designation.

Move from observations to inspection

Compare the designation, operating records and maintenance events before organising lubrication-system, installation and sealing inspection information. Include noise, vibration and inspection photographs with the temperature trend where available.

The discussion outcome should state the documents used, conditions and next inspection items. Changes to lubricant, quantity or operating method require the equipment and lubricant instructions; a temperature symptom alone does not justify changing parameters.

Continue with on-site references

Structure illustrations are references, not application recommendations. Read parameters for the complete designation.
